What is a Supported Charity?
In a Model United Nations (MUN) conference, the supporting charity is a non-profit organization selected by the event, usually one that reflects core United Nations values such as human rights, education, sustainability, or global health. Throughout the conference, the Secretariat and delegates help promote the charity’s mission by raising awareness, collecting donations, or organizing fundraising activities. The aim is to generate real-world impact while debating global issues — turning discussion into action. It’s one of the ways MUN encourages students not only to talk about change, but to take part in creating it.
About Casa Malice
|
Casa Malice is a support house that welcomes people in situations of social vulnerability, coming from all over Brazil, who are undergoing treatment for serious illnesses outside their municipality of residence. During their stay in Curitiba, each person undergoing treatment brings with them a companion who assists them throughout their stay at the support house.
On average, Casa Malice welcomes around 30 people per month. Since its founding in 2016, it has provided more than 1,500 accommodations, totaling approximately 15,000 overnight stays. |
|
At Casa Malice, humane, free care is provided in an environment with adequate physical infrastructure, offering housing, food, hygiene, sanitation, safety, accessibility, and privacy for the person undergoing treatment and their companion.
Currently, their main activity is focused on temporary institutional care. They house people in situations of temporary vulnerability outside their homes, during the period of post-bone marrow transplant treatment, referred by the Hospital de Clínicas de Curitiba-PR, for an indefinite period. |
